The enormous flower clusters begin to appear on gracefully arching stems in June and continue coming for 6 to 8 weeks, emerging white and gradually turn to a beautiful pink color as they age. Even if Snowflake produced no flowers at all its stunning fall foliage color makes it a worthy addition to every garden where it will grow!

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a mound 5 to 8 feet tall and wide, the Snowflake Hydrangea is an excellent for use as a specimen, grouped in clusters, or as an attractive, colorful hedge that provides year round color and interest. It is right at home in partly shaded woodland borders or cottage and cut flower gardens. Also a nice addition to white color themed gardens and tropical-look gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  4 to 6 feet apart for solid hedge;  10 feet or more apart for space between plants

Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Cold Hardiness Zone 5a, where this Hydrangea is not reliably winter hardy, you'll be happy to know that it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and place back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Growing Preferences

Snowflake Oakleaf Hydrangea is easy to grow and resistant to pests and diseases. It thrives in any location from full sun to part shade in moist, rich, well-drained soil. In hotter climates of the South some afternoon shade or lightly filtered sun is recommended.

Note:  Oakleaf hydrangeas typically require little to no pruning. They are best left alone. That said they can be pruned to remove a stray branch or to reduce size. Snowflake is aHydrangea quercifolia (oakleaf) species that produces its flowers from buds that formed on "old wood" (during the previous year).

So far, so good

I've been searching high and low for this hydrangea variety, to match another I planted several years ago. The plant arrived well packed and looked good coming out of the box, despite less-than-careful handling from FedEx. It's only been in the ground a couple weeks, so too soon to tell what the flowering will be like, but I have high hopes. I'll be delighted if this grows to match the other one in this bed. The flowers on this variety are spectacular.---------------------------------------------We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Snowflake Oakleaf Hydrangea

I ordered two Snowflake Oakleaf Hydrangea from Wilson Bros Gardens. These are the the most magnificent oak leaf hydrangeas I have ever planted. We already have 5 on our property and wanted more. They create a dramatic view in our garden and are so impressive that people often stop on the road to ask about them. Because of their new popularity, they are difficult to obtain but Wilson Bros Garden had them in stock and shipped them to us quickly. I was concerned because of shipping during the early heat of Summer and contacted Wilson Bros to understand what they would do to ensure shipping did not damage plants. They reassured me of how they packaged and shipped the plants. In fact, they notified me when the plants were loaded onto the Fedex truck and they arrived 48 hours later in great shape. They were well packaged and are already part of our landscape. Many thanks to the good folks at Wilson Bros for their excellent service and support. I will purchase from this business again in the future.----------------------------------We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come!
